3.0 V6 out of a new Mondeo

My dad had a Ghia X V6 (exactly the same but different wheels and full leather interior) and it was pretty quick for a family estate!

I had one a couple of years ago , and put a pipercross induction kit on it , which made a lovely sound on exellerating , but not any noticable power gains.
Cost about £70 and took me about 15 mins to fit.
I dont think there is much you can do to tune them other than a performance exhaust and Bluefin from superchip which may add a few horses.

Hope this helps

Paul.

Strangely there seems to a big hole in the market for decent upgrades on these engines.....and they need it. Cat back exhaust don't do anything for power, but they make a nice noise

I have heard you can fit decatted or performance cat exhaust headers (stock very restrictive from the looks of them) - but they are for a Ford Contour IIRC which may mean clearance issues and you'll have to import them from the USA

Perhaps an idea to give noble a call and ask where they get their bits from for their engines

No room in a mondeo for the turbo on the rear bank unfortunately. Removing the main cat is quite cheap and it should still pass emmissions due to the pre-cats in the manifolds. The trouble is that to get much more go you need to upgrade everything (from a n/a tuning point of view) and that gets expensive, what with having 4 camshafts etc etc. Nitrous is a compelling argument, as no other upgrades are necessary, even the clutch should be ok for a 100shot The install is relatively straightforward, easy to put the nozzles just before the throttle plate, or tap the ally manifold for a direct port install.

First upgrade he should do is put on a metal impellared water pump as the stock plastic impellared ones are notorious for disintegrating. No water, no cooling and KABOOM!

Have a hunt around the forums on www.fordmondeo.org
