Red face Mates Clio Cup

His exhaust started vibrating and knocking on thursday, he picked me up on friday and i thought there may have being a hole in it causing it to rasp. It sound just like a rally car lol. Come saturday he was driving to his mums when the backbax fell off and snapped away from the centre section! He had someone tap on his window asking if he knew his exhaust was hanging off!

His mate who works at a garage is pushing him to get a full stainless system fitted and assures him he will give him the best possible price.

But what im wondering is, the car is a 52 plate and the exhaust has died/fallen off within a couple of days!! Has any other Cup owner experienced this? Davyboy???

The Clio's exhaust goes up and over the rear axle. The pipe has to hold a lot of weight so as soon as it gets a small hole or similar - it will soon be knackered.
My Mother's went from blowing to snapping within a week

If the car was used for lots of short journeys it wouldn't surpise me as it would suffer from alot of condesation so it rots from the inside out.

The lifespan seems somewhat short for an original exhaust in this day and age as most are aluminised to prevent them rusting. But thats down to the quality/material the manufacturers use.

It's French, so it's made of bean cans

The metal in French cars aint as good as that mate, and any how all the bean cans have been used up for making scoobys.

Stoopid question, but don't they come with a warranty?

If my original zorst fell off within 3 years I'd expect the manufacturer to pay for it.

i had a 172 cup and within 3 weeks the cat had disintergrated. sounded ******* terrible. that was just before the door trim started rattling like a, well, rattle and the window screen wiper came away from its mounting during a torrential downpour leaving me to crawl to the garage to get it sorted. it had gone through qc in france and england and no one noticed that it hadnt been screwed down.
dont believe it when they tell you frog cars are better built now.
my brother worked for a renault dealer and he pdi'd a brand new megane that made it to this country missing a piston....

Mine went the same way. The back and mid sections are in one piece & the way the rear bracket hangs the back box on only one side causes it to break when it gets a bit corroded. If you have the pukka Renault one it will cost an arm and a leg because they charge mucho man hours to drop the rear axle to fit it. Quikfit & the like do the same or bodge a 1.2 clio exhaust on so the best option is a custom stainless steel one. About £300 cat back.

Nice. I had a clio cup and was looking at the same exhaust from k-tec to get a fruitier note without the car looking ridiculous. Thats a good compromise at over £100 cheaper than reno will do the standard one for.
