Diesel run abouts: What is the 3.0 V6 CDTI Vauxhall engine like?
Is it a patch on the 330d/530d 184 BHP BMW unit?
The Vectra with this unit in is only a grand more than a Mondeo 130 diesel at a year old, £11K vs £10K. Obviously this gets you a fairly old 330d in comparison.

Not driven one of those but generally, V6 and V8 diesels are not noted for their economy, which might defeat the object.
For a diesel runabout a remapped VAG barge with the 1.9 PD130 motor (A6 or Passat) gives 160-odd BHP plus 300 lb-ft of torque and experience from the VAG forums shows they still give 45mpg+.
Complete with Massey-Ferguson soundtrack

I do know the Vauxhall unit is the Isuzu v6 unit seen in the Saab 9-5 before. They are easily remapped for 200hp also. Try asking a saab forum about the engines, but from the autocar long term test I seem to remember they are very smooth and good on a run, averaging mid to late 30's mpg.
