As the title says - has anyone P/X'd for a lower priced car???
If so, did you get reasonable deal from the dealer?

They will pull your pants down I`m afraid.

If you want to down size, or release a little extra cash the only way forward is to sell via the classifieds and buy with cash. The fact that selling it yourself can be such a pain in the **** just plays into the dealers hands.

Good luck!

Yes, and yes. I did so today!

It depends on the dealer whether you get a good price, but most dealers try and cover a fixed margin on the car they're selling and the car they're buying - i.e. they'll try and keep a £1500 (or whatever) profit margin on both.

Best to shop around and see who will give you a good deal.

Bear in mind that dealers are never going to give you a great price on PX even when you're buying a much more expensive car.

I was looking at more sensible cars when I had my scoob. I was interested in a Focus. Dealer offered me £10,500 for my scoob on a £9k focus....

I didnt take him up on it but only sold the scoob for £11,250 private.

Probably doesnt happen much though.

Simon.
