Default anyone got a pic of there temp gauge whilst running on a mk 2 mondeo

hi,
my mk2 mondeo seems not to be running to hot-dont want to go to hassle yet of changing thermostat as my old deisel one never seemed to barely get into normal operating zone on scale for the temp either-so has anyone here got a pic or can take one of where the needle is on there temp gauge in car when engine is at normal temp please.
thanks

I had a 97 1.8 for a short while, once warmed up the temp gauge was bang in the middle of the scale (halfway from cold to the red zone) and never moved, even in heavy town traffic

Exactly as the MY00 2.0 Zetec I used to drive was... Completely bang on centre.

Cheers,

Just got my '97 1.8 a couple of weeks ago and noticed straight away that when out cruising at 60-80 it barely goes into normal, but moves up when in town/traffic. Doesnt seem to be having an ill effect yet...

mines takes an absolute age to get anywhere near the normal operating temperatures -like about 8 or 9 mile lol-so i was thinking it be using more fuel as surely it be running richer for to long

Thermostat is bust, failure mode is stuck open, so car never warms up. Not a diificult or expensive job to replace.

do you have to drain the anti freeze to do it-or can u just let a bit spill out as u undo thermostat housing?then top up afterwards

Looking at the TIS CD it looks as if you have to drain the coolant, but I was careful with the hoses and used the "jam the new thermostat in veryquickly" technique, and didn't lose much coolant.
