Default Project J4CKO

Got this off a mate today, he wanted it out of the way as he has a new Merc E class and this was taking root, hadnt been run for six months and was 3 inches deep in tree debris, got it running and brought it home after a wash, it runs ok ish and sound very throaty (V6 with a leaky exhaust) but the brakes dont work and both front cv joint boots are knackered, and the battery is suspect otherwise its intact. Got busy with the pressure washer and it looks a whole lot better than it did. Should make a few quid but mainly its a free project as I am sick of decorating and need an alternative creative outlet.

Nothing, going to assess it and see what they go for, the idea being that I provide my mate with more back than he would have got if his wife had carried out her threat to call the scrap man, couldnt let it go to the scrappy !

Not sure what they are worth when MOTd and all sorted, seen then on the same year for two grand but I would say thats a bit ott, low miles, 70 odd I think (need to check) and it will make a good car, dont know how sought after these are, it being an Avant helps but I am not sure whether the V6 engine puts people off or attracts them. Currently thinking about 1200 quid all done.

So far it needs,

1 outer cv joint (poss 2)
Exhaust clamp
4 brake disks and pads front and rear
Wheels painting
Bonnet catch fixing
MOT
battery charging, need a new charger as mine is knakered.
Probably some plugs, oil, filter etc

CrisPDuk, 1500 sounds good !, will make a nice car, just needs the time putting into it, way too good to go to the scrap man.

Not had a MK1 Golf for years, last one I had was the Black MK2, I won that one in 1988 in the Daily Mirror, sold it to my dad, he ran it for years and gave it back to me, I did quite bit to it but sold it abouta year/year and a half ago, still going by all accounts, used to take all sorts on it that, most fun car I have ever owned.

Would like another MK1 but it would have to be mint and uprated or a scratch build for myself, the last one was a bit ropey but it had a GTI Engineering 1.9 conversion, very quick, it now lives in a garage 3 doors down from my mum.
