I would've thought the S2000 was up there with the best in that criteria. I can't really think of any other 2 litre car pushing 240 brake, or anything like that...

Although saying that the 182 is no slouch if we're talking value for money too

Caterham R500. R500 EVO or CSR by a mile I'd think.

Or do you mean "proper" production car?

....not sure the CSR is 2 litre.....it's a Mazda 2.3 or something.

One of my mates works on the team at Cosworth....and they did let the "team" members drive it.....until one of the rolled it in the town!

I think I misinterpreted standard production car. I always assume that means one you can get your shopping in

Literally speaking I guess not!

They must have their knickers in a twist in that article then because at the start it says

This Caterham is fitted with a 2-litre V8 that weighs a mere 74kg yet develops a stonking 340bhp backed up by 190lb ft of torque
I wasn't sure if they did both a 2.0 and 2.3 tuned version.....it's not exactly clear is it

The 2.0L V8 in the article isn't the CSR....different models. The title says Caterham RST V8
