My mate has one, it's an amassing little car. The performance statistics really do not do it justice, it’s like a roller-skate with a jet engine strapped to the back and it sticks to the road like **** to a blanket.

We've got one. Well built, goes & handles well, economic, very rare, gets lots of attention and in all the time we've owned it (9 months from new) we've only ever seen one other!

A month ago or so i went to croft for a VAG track day. I thought i should get to know my newly aquired Skoda Fabia. It was a great day, although i think i was the slowest of the day. But either way there was a kean tracker there in a Lupo GTI. And he was doing very well. The car was standard apart from lowering springs.

This video footage is from a VW Golf 2 syncro with a VAG 1.8t - i believe it was fully race prepared, but not sure. The brakes / suspension / wheels / tyres / cage all suggested it was a track car. Make your own judgment anyway.

I had a lupo GTi a few years ago on a '51' plate. It was a decent motor, the 6 speed 'box was great fun and it was pretty quick. The lupo did have a tendancy to nose dive a bit under harder cornerning which led to quite alot of understeer hence why alot of people have uprated the springs and shocks.
There were a few minor glitches on the interior (noticeably the seats tended to creak a bit and no amount of trips to the dealers seemed to fix that). Generally build quality wasnt too bad though.
The boot was tiny though, and its not the most practical car in the world for day to day use, although its more practical than you would initially think if you never carry any passengers. Its probably a little over-priced IMO for the size of car but then again that VW for you!
Overall a good fun car which is relatively cheap to run.

How about this AMD are now offering a stage 1 remap for £350. It promises 20hp which I'm sceptical about...but then again it's AMD. Have they ever been found to exagerate power claims? Also a nice geom' set up.

Hello Andrew
Please excuse the mistake on the new web site for the Lupo tuning, the power increase is @10BHP and torque with this model. VW have tuned the cars very well from the factory and to get much higher gains does require a fairly expensive engine rebuild. The rolling road work we do optimises what the factory have already done, making for smoother power delivery and driveability.
We firstly run through the mechanical side of the car to ensure all is safe to run, we then carry out a full rolling road power test to check the car makes standard numbers, once all is found to be well then we modify the engine soft ware to suit and finally test again on the rolling road. We can then produce full before and after graphs of your cars outputs verifying the gains.
Honest of them anyway....
