A collegue of mine has just bought a Citroen AX for his daughter, and wants to change the brake fluid as part of a service before she drives it.
I know some Citroens use a mineral fluid, but I'm not sure about the AX. Does anyone know what spec. fluid the AX uses?

I run an AX for leaving at the pub. Fun little car.

The manual states "TOTAL (the oil brand) universal brake & clutch fluid", so take that as the normal stuff.

Didn't the more unconventional Citroens (DS, BX, CX etc) share the same hydraulic fluid for the suspension/brakes/clutch, hence the need for special stuff?

The AX doesn't have the guff suspension so just wazz some DOT 3 or 4 throught it! DOT 4 is the higher spec but TBH you'll do well to find DOT 3

Oh, a litre should be loads for a fluid change...make sure you WD40 and wire brush the bleed nipples first

Citroen AX's have brakes! they must have been an optional extra because i'm sure my old one didn't have any
