Running costs - WRX STi vs EVO8 (260)
my father wishes to buy one of these cars, he test-drove both and loved them to the last bit, said that he could live with any of those so he is going to decide according to running costs...
the car will mostly be used for city driving and on country roads, just occasional highways...
so the question is - which one is cheaper to run? (service intervals, service costs, fuel consumption, insurance, depreciation etc.). I know that EVOs service intervals are crap, heard something about every 4500 miles or so... how is it compared to WRX STi? both cars will be MY05
TIA
I know that nobody buys these cars for economy but... you know

Had an Sti and an evo 8 FQ330 so feel qualified to reply.
The 260 is actually an Evo 7 with an 8 nose and rear lights.
The 260 servicing is free at the moment so not a great issue, however 4500 miles is stupid.
The Sti will be easier to live with day to day, it's not as hard as the Evo and MPG will be better.
The Evo is slightly bigger so if space is a factor think about that.
Sti has 6 speed compared to Evo 5 speed, I much prefer a 6 speed box (My Evo had the 6 speed).
Easier to shift the Scoob, more buyers, it's more mainstream than the Evo so will be easier to trade in.
PPP option for more power and importantly still has warranty.
The Evo is cheaper, the new 9 on the horizon may mean you get a great deal, however 54 regs are for sale privately on the MLR for 16k!!!!
TBH I'd go for the Sti.
