Default audi a4 1.8t running cost,

A friend is getting an audi a4 1.8t and is wondering what the running cost will be like. on parker it says 34mpg which seems quite good for 1.8 turbo petrol, has anyone here got or had one? could they give a low down on the realistic fuel running costs?

eg how far a fuel tank on urban driving and motorway driving, etc

Mate had a Cupra ( same engine 180BHP ) used to do around 30 MPG, but like any car if you give it loads, that will drop. Dont think running cost where to bad, just use decent oil and filters

Used to get about 300miles out of £32ish, but that was on an a3 1.8t an was about 2/3 years ago, so petrol has gone up a bit since then, so probably looking at 300miles - £40 now.

One thing to be mindful of is audi servicing prices (if he wants the all-important audi stamps in the service book that is..). Makes scooby dealers look positively tame....

Nice car and built like a tank.. but a very harsh ride I thought.

34 mpg is right on the button if it's a mixture of driving conditions . Parts aren't that expensive now if you get them from places like www.eurocarparts.co.uk or www.gsfcarparts.com for example a genuine oil filter is about a fiver . I've owned our Avant for 5 years now and it's been as good as gold .
