Default thinking of getting Exige S2 - any owners here?

I would appreciate any informed opinions greatly. Got a test drive booked for Monday. Got that funny feeling in the stomach when you know you're working upto a major purchase....I just need the final push to do it.

thanks in advance

Informed opinion? Not from me I'm afraid, unless you count reading the magazines

Have you considered a Series 1? Worth a drive in both before parting with your readies...

I bought an S2 Exige last year after selling the P1 and never looked back. I use it every day with a stage 2 exhaust and it is a fantastic car. Only problem I have had with it was getting stuck in the snow at work. Sometimes 4wd and tread is useful.

Thats what I like to hear. Sound good with the sports exhaust?

Does it clear speed bumps ok? Got loads near me on way home - a real pain in the ****.

Stage 2 sounds fantastic especially over 6000 rpm although gets a bit tiresome when travelling from Glasow to Plymouth and back. A grand tourer it isnt!!!!

I have to negotiate speed bumps every morning with no clearance probs but it certainly wakes you up. Same sort of issues as the P1 with it being low and you have to watch on car park ramps but at least its only a small piece of plastic.

etc.

In a couple of years, when I buy my "toy" car, this will be high on the list as will a Noble...

I agree it is a toy. Especially when you sit in it while 3 people push you into the car park.

oh and back out at the end of the day!!!

It must attract a lot of attention - is it generally of the positive sort?

It attracts a fair bit of attention but then it is yellow, loud and quite possibly the worlds largest kinder egg toy. See below for pic of assembly.

I have had a fairly extensive test drive in one and must say I loved it. To be honest I could happily drive one every day and I'm around 6'3.

So much fun especially when it comes on song at high revs. Would have loved a little more torque but it's only a tiny niggle when a car handles and does so many things so well.

Start saying your goodbyes to the money!!

Janner are you local to trafford park?
Just that I saw the car near United`s ground, in the pic.
I work less than 1 min from there....
If you ever fancy showing me your Exige, I`ll take you for a spin in my Wagon...

For those of us that can't be bothered, what's the main differences btwn that an an Elise, as it just looks like a hardtop? Sorry, I've been under a rock... Is it the same engine?

To hijack the post a bit - Zoog's shortlist (unless he's changed his mind since we last spoke) is exige (for Motorway +3 miles of twisties to work) + TDi (for family use) v Porker 996 (for all the work + family).
Personally I would go Porker and have a great car all the time rather than only get the best of the exige for 6 miles per day.
So debate time: Exige + TDi or 996 any variant

Differant Front and Rear Clams, different Tyres/Wheels & Suspension, other than yet it is like the Elise.

They are awesome!

The pure driving pleasure is cannot be matched, and the speed it can go round corners is mind bogling!

Get one!!!!!!

Got the Exige yesterday, done 250 miles. Running in proceedure means revs kept below 4500 for most of the time except 3 or 4 blasts upto the redline at 8500 revs.

The stage 2 sports exhaust fitted sounds incredible, especially in tunnels or blipping it on the downchanges! Pops and bangs a lot too on the overrun.

But the real thing is the handling, with grip, feel and controllability of the attitude and sliding of the car in corners being at a level I ve not experienced before.

The thing is addictive. And I ve only just started on it.

Book is 149. Not done it yet.

It is quieter at 100 than at 75 due to the sports exhaust resonations at the latter!

Jenner and Zoog -

Coming from using Scoobs, how does the Exige compare as a daily driver?

I'm very tempted by the Exige or the Mk II V6 Clio but I'm worried about how practical they may be.

7 Foot - Where in Bucks are you?
