30k miles per year - what's a good option?
Hi
Looking for recommendations to suit the following requirements:
* Budget circa 3-5k
* Daily journey of about 120 miles - 1/2 dual carriageway, 1/2 single lane twisty road
* Mega fuel economy
* Reliable as possible - I'm not a mechanic!
* Comfy - air con would be nice (or is that a bad idea on an older car?), and seats need to ensure I can still walk at the end of the day!
* Not shabby looking or overly dated
* I probably need it to last for at least 3 years too
* Low insurance
* Not overly bothered about performance so long as I can overtake stuff safely on the twisty road (has a few semi-decent straight bits)
I know the VW diesel 130 engine and it is excellent, but I'm not sure I can get something in this budget that doesn't already have >100k on the clock. I liked the drive on my MY03 Passat TD130 Estate, but now the "nice" car has become the family car and I don't want to rack up 100k miles on it!
Is a decent Mondeo in my budget? I always get hung up on things like "the new model has fixed all the gruesome problems with the old one."
Are there any unpopular but decent cars that depreciate like hell into the realms of my budget?
Thanks y'all
