The car has done around 100k miles and the mechanicals still seem to be in pretty good condition.
Cheers.

140PS for the 1800cc! Thatll be quite quick with a power density of 7.93; a single turbo Legacy estate has a power density of 7.2..... and a Classic WRX 'Wagon about 5.68.

Don't know much about them, but used to hate them. Thought they were a Poxhall Tigra equivalent - all looks (which I disliked) and no go.
Sorry for perhaps a pointless post...

Thanks guys, esp. Simon.
I know what you're saying Brendan but to be honest I'm looking at chopping the Saxo in for a Clio 182 and I'm going to need a runaround for leaving in Leeds city centre for work. Looked at these because they're cheap, Japanese (hopefully reliable), not overtly common, not particularly desirable, small 16v engine and light-looking. The 1800 sounds the one to go for but tbh I've only seen 1600's for sale. But at around £1,000 for a 95/96 model with history it seems pretty good.

I've had two of them as company cars when they first came out, well built, reliable, but apart from the quirky roof it's a dull drive, drab interior and a bit gutless (exhaust the size of a peashooter), but you would certainly look forward to getting back in your 182! But for the money they are a good option IMO, I would.

I had one for a year or so and really liked it. OK, it doesn't have the same levels of driver involvement as a modern hot hatch, but it has a willing enough little engine, a decent chassis and good levels of feedback. Make sure you get one of the later fuel injected models - the early ones had a carb-fed version of the same engine which really is gutless.
AFAIK there was only ever a 1.6 in the UK, though there are a few 2.0's around - not sure where they came from.

I had a UK 1992 K reg 100NX 1.6 16v targa sports with 90bhp in gunmetal grey. It was good for posing with the T bar roof but was a bit sluggish to be honest.

The only UK car was a 1600cc Andy; the SR20DE engine seems to be a popular conversion but according to my reference catalogue there were only the frames that I have listed.

I wonder if it was an export-only model then? Its reassuring to know that it isnt just Subaru who import a restricted poverty-spec model range for us!
