Looking at buying either car second hand say 2-3yrs old. I'm biased towards the BMW but the Mercs seem to be much better value. Build quality issues perhaps? I would probably look to chip the diesel to maximise the torque etc. Space, relaxed driving and economy/reliability are the main objectives.

Anyone experienced either?
