Question New Golf GTI

What does everyone think?

Hadnt had chance to go for a test drive, dont even know if they're available yet, but winter is here and dont really fancy driving the CSL at this time of year, also the missus has pretty much highjacked the M5.

Really like the look in black sounds like a good car (ie image, residuals, comfort/handling balance) from what i've read. Would have to be the five door too

Any alternatives? Have thought of S3 but only 3 doors and dont fancy the seat cupraR when i drove one a while back.

For F*** sake i struggle to run one car and a beat up old Audi at that - i really do need to get another job ha! ha!

having just read Autocar they reckon its miles better than the last 2 models and it is a superb drive with plenty of poke - looks great too.

Its not that im worried about - already have winter boots on. Have two reasons - dont want the car to get too many stone chips from bloody gritters as i found out the other night, and to be honest i want to keep the mileage down. Was supposed to be a weekend car but have ended up using it all the time. If i get the Golf might just be able to get the M5 back.....fat chance! She wants to trade it in for an X5 which i told her she can if she wants one so bad she can use the settlement money from the divorce lol. Would'nt be seen dead in one!

So seriously guys no-one have any info on the golfie?

Ive got one on order, well two actualy.
But they keep getting delayed. If you go for a car with 17" wheels you will see the car mid January. 18" wheels means await until March (ive gone for the 18")

Dealers will have the car at the end of December begining of January for test drives.

Jason Plato seemed to like it on 5th Gear the other week; he drove a 5 door DSG version and seemed very impressed with the power delivery and handling.

Good looking cars, decent power etc..........but every other car on the road is a golf, typical reps car. I know the gti is different, but its still a golf.
Not for me im affraid...........especially when they stick the price tag on it.

Ok Jealousy aside, i have read numerous good reports on the new golf Gti, Car magazine Autocar and they all say it is a revelation compared to the previous two models (and these are spoilt journo's) so to the likes of us mere mortals they must be bloody fantastic and having looked at the interior they look great and check out the checked seats - from what i have heard they are a great car so go for it if you get one on order now when you take delivery if you dont like it chances are you may be able to sell it for what you paid maybe even a small profit what with waiting lists and all!!!!!

I keep putting off ordering one. If you do, dont fall for the no discount stuff. Get at least £1,000 off the car. Ive got that via one of Pendragons main dealers, plus broadspeed and drive the deal have good prices

Hey guys,

I have managed to get a drive of a red 3 door lhd gti.
Great car. Nice spread of power, feels pretty quick.
Have driven the cupra r and have to say the golf feels slightly quicker (possibly to the spread of power) and it is better handling I think personally.

I owned both the mark 1 and mark 2. Really enjoyed owning them.
This car definately reminds me of them, but it is obviously a nicer car to be in (and quicker too)

Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Hmmm, much better options out there for the cash...

I've still got a stock example in the garage of the MK1...
