Default HELP!!!!! can't decide

Hello all,

i'm thinking of a new "hot hatch", and thus far have thought of the following.

only credentials are that it should be brand new.

Civic Type R
Clio 182
206 GTi 180
Seat Leon Cupra R(225)

Thoughts? please explain your choice..

Civic Type R- Not bad, engine was a bit revvy for everyday driving.
Clio 182- French...
206 GTi 180- As above...
Seat Leon Cupra R(225)- Out of the 4 i'd go for this one. The only down side was the rear window could made it a bit difficult to reverse due to poor visability.

Go for the Cupra, by far and away the best all round package.
Civic quick but over rated as a road car
French cars quick but small and basic (cheap good value though)
You could go for the normal Cupra 180, not that much in it on the road
and you can get some great deals at the moment....had one my self for a few months... great car and enthusiastic owners club too!

LOL. Seriously though. i've since heard that the 180 has a dodgy driving position - the cupra is easier tuned, but now have added the possibility for a works mini

What about a Fabia vRS? chip it to 185bhp and get sub-7 0-60 along with 40+ MPG even when its being thrashed about!!

Of the list you mention tho:

* Civic Type R - only if you enjoy revs....
* Clio 182 - dont bother as theres an all-new Clio late this year/early next, so nearly new values will be hit
* 206 180 Havent heard amazing things about these, all top-end go apparently
* Seat 225 - IMHO, best of the 4 you mention, but dont look great.

i thought about the skoda, but the misses hates it, even though its practically an audi.

seat seems to be coming out on top, although open to any suggestions.

How about the new golf gti ?

Looks really good all round.
Managed to have a sit and very brief drive of a left hand driver last week.
Great motor.

The 206 is just a tad unreliable. And they only put out about 160 bhp as standard.

I'd take the cupra it's a real hot hatch ... Type-r is so empty and the others you mention above no need to talk about them

Cupra for me too. The Mrs has one and it's great - the new 205GTI IMHO.

My brother's currently got a CTR and is looking to get rid after only 2 months. He's Mr fast car, and has had 50 odd cars in the past 10 years and he rates it in the bottom 5 for driving pleasure.

I had a go in it and it's nippy but I found it hard work and needing to be punished to get anything out of it. I'm not used to VTEC, though.

Get out and drive the Cupra-R, its excellent. I very nearly bought one a couple of months ago. Goes brilliantly, handling not bad and brakes excellent!
