The Club GTI forum is pretty busy, although you have to wade through a lot of nonsense! VWvortex also has very lively Mk3 specific forums, although it's very US biased (being a US based site).
Tons of other forums around, although I can't think of any that as popular as the above.

Should be straightforward, but you'll need to buy some adapters for the purpose (Porsche stud pattern is 5x130 AFAIK, whereas the VR6 uses a 5x100 - but you probably know that!).
H&R have a good reputation as a manufacturer of adapters - try AAT.
