Hi,
i'm thinking about chopping my Golf in for a Integra DC5, I used to own a DC2, best car i've owned for reliability and sheer driver enjoyment and involvement.
Had to get rid of it as it was not practical for long distance driving due to it's raw nature.
I've heard that the later import shaped DC5 is less raw, anyone had one? They have very low running costs compared to cars of similar performance and the engines are bullet proof.

Great car, not as fond of it as I was my EK9, just missing that edge, but performance wise it does everything so well, I found the ride a bit hard, and sick of the stupidly high costs of insuring a modded Jap Import.

Can't help much other than to say I'd quite fancy one and spent a lot of time reading up on them this year. As mentioned above comfort is the only real issue anyone has and if that's the case why buy a 'sports' car? They go well and as you say, have bulletproof reliability. They were a bit overpriced for me this year but maybe next year I'll think again when the bottom's dropped right out of the import market.

I've ordered 1 it should be here in a week (I have no finger nails left)
I test drove everything, I was looking for something with a bit of performance, reliability and a decent fuel consumption, I got sick to death of having to fill the scooby up after every 200 miles plus I was looking for something rare just like the scooby used to be
On that note............I wouldn't bother with 1, they suck

Cheers guys,
I've looked into those two suppliers and they just don't have the one for me in the country available yet.
It has to be white, it is the official honda R, racing colour and my DC2 looked so good in white. if it is anything like the DC2 for the grin factor then I'll love it as out of all the scoobs, evo and other performance cars i've owned, the integra gave me the most satisfaction.
I need a 2003 or 2004 model with low miles, in white and under £17k, one at litchfields but It's not one of his imported cars, he is selling on behalf of a customer so probably will not be able to do me a great deal on my golf as a px.

This was a few years ago now but I did not expect major diff and AYC problems, all in all that cost near £5k, lucky for me it was only a year old so was covered under warrenty, so were the warped disks and refurb of the blistered alloys.
I soon got rid of it, but they are not cheap cars to run, TBH I prefered my Teg (DC2), not as quick straight line performance but once I had the zorst done and Mugen ECU installed, suspension sorted it was a great drive and cross country I could make as quick progress in this as I could in the EVO (if kept in the 'zone').
£ for £ it was awesome.
I will look very hard for a good low mileage example.
Plus they look so much better than 4 door japmobiles ;-)

Just what i thought M8. you've come to pretty much the same conclusion as me the DC5 seems to be the best normally aspirated choice to go for. Although i like my CTR they are petty common nowadays and to be honest i'm not all that impressed with the handling, plenty of grip but just not that involving. Gotta be the White DC5 for me as well then :-) Just gotta pay off the CTR in April then i'm all set!

Read into this what you want to, but I think the the DC5 is the best N/A FWD drive car out there by far, my only criticism is the steering wheel its way too big. Car looks good, build quality is excellent, interior is better knocked together than the DC2, make sure you check that oil, syncro's can be an issue.
It isnt any quicker in all honesty than an EP3, and only marginally faster than a DC2, last year a few owners RR there std DC5's and power came out at 212bhp every time, mod's are very expensive as you know, and yield little until you tinker a bit with the brain, the DC5 is way more satisfying to drive than the EP3 thou IMHO. Get an insurance quote first thou, I paid way more than what I paid on my modded S2 Elise :O

Bodski,
Try the DC5 forum, there must be recommended insurance companies on there, I Liverpool & Victoria can insure it as thats who I'm with, I'd hate to loose 8 months NCD.

Bodski,
They have a 2002 model wityh 12k miles on the clock for £14,995, which I think is a good, fair price for one of these, however it is not going to be in this country until next year.... I can't wait that long.
I've seen some dealers advertising 2002-2003 models for up to £19k, way over the top, I'm sure they don't shift at that price.
I may sell my Golf private and go in as a cash buyer..

Yeah i saw that one too M8 I can't get rid of my CTR till April which is a pain in the **** but it's gonna be a White DC5 with red Recaros for me! Got a quote off of Direct line for Insurance last night, i had to ring them up cause it was'nt listed on the website. £715 including Protected no claims , Legal cover and Guaranteed Loan car etc. I thought that was pretty good. 33 year old with Max NCB and car on the drive over night.
Price wise i found http://www.gt-culture.com to be pretty good and from what i've heard a lot of people have good things to say about them.
Good luck with your search M8 i hope u find a good one :-)
