Just got rid of the scoob - STi v3 wagon. Gutted to see it go as it was so reliable and competent.
Trying to think what to get next - luckily insurance isn't an issue...
Quite fancy a move to RWD for a bit more involvement.
I have a short commute but occassional motorway slogs to see customers, so its got to be fun, but not trackcar inpractical.
Current shortlist is quite eclectic:
M5 - a bit common
Lotus Carlton - running costs?
Honda S2000
Honda Accord Type-R
Merc AMG (C43 / 36?)
Lotus Exige - with a/c
Boxster - see M5
911 (964)
968 Sport
Audi RS2
Any I've missed?

Well I've just bought a twin turbo Supra, 1993 GZ Aerotop with Veilside bodykit and a number of healthy extras. A seemingly genuine 34k on the clock too ! All for under £15k.
Very pleased with it so far. With the mods it has, if it's not 400bhp then it ain't far off. But it's also a comfy auto aswell as a hooligans car, so using it everyday isn't a problem.
Okay so stylings not to everyone's taste (cue chestwig\hairdresser jokes !) but Toyota reliability, 0-60 in 4ish, removable top for the 3 sunny days we get annually and really turns heads !
See !
All the best
Matt

For a second car and if running costs weren't an issue then I would probably go for a Porsche 928, lovely 5+litres, depending on the age, and one of the best cars I have driven, driving position and seats were lovely.

I said it was quite an eclectic list - it just shows the spectrum of motors you can get within a budget range.
Good point about the MCoupe - I love the quirky looks, and they seem to hold their value quite well - unless they are custard yellow....
Supra looks pretty cool - I had a look at a few over at www.WhifBitz.co.uk yesterday

Ahh, that's what eclectic meant. Had never heard of the word tbh.
I love the M Coupe and if it weren't the fact I need rear seats I know what I'd buy.

From the list...
It would definitely be the Audi RS2 for me!!
You can bore your mates by repeatedly going on about how its: "Quicker than a McLaren F1 from 0-30"
Doesnt look anything special apart from small touches like Porsche mirrors/wheels & brakes.. to the untrained eye, its a boring Estate.
It comes with a healthy 315bhp.......
Sorry, feel like I'm going on a bit now, but they are one of my all time favorite cars.
Cheers,
Grant

Audi RS2 - a ramraiders favourite, totally brilliant car ! Didn't they have really strong Porsche links for this car ? I think it borrows a number of Porsche performance parts, but can't remember exactly what.
Nice.

mmmm RS2, fastest 0-30 in a production car....
Housemate at uni had a green one (parents owned some big company and they were from Jersey, had jersey plates and all) and it rocked.

If you want a flying machine that cruises on the motorway I can certainly recommend a Supra, my brothers twin turbo vvti has savage acceleration.

Okay, over £20K, but this is mine and you may be surprised what I pay for my insurance.

That Esprit is gorgeous - what sort of money are they at?
Done some digging - all RS2's seem to be over 120k miles - which shows they take the miles but I'd prefer something with not as much history.
Griff 500 - lovely.

I pay £675 a year on a classic policy for 5,000 miles. I've got full NCD but the policy does not require it.

Mate of mine's just sold up and bought a TVR 4.2 Cerbera for 18K from a dealer - and then spent 1K fixing minor faults.....
If you could acept the inevitable breakdowns could be a good way to go...

My heart would say an RS500 Cosworth or an early big Turbo Escort Cosworth. However being a recent convert to Audi's and being thoroughly impressed with my A4 I would love an S3
