Exclamation TT with sports cat, induction and remap...

My mate has had his 225 TT fitted with a sports cat, induction and a remap...OMG...feels MUCH faster than my MY99 Impreza with similar mods (decat, induction and TEK2)...He said it should be pushing around 290-300bhp??

Yep, seems about right. My Leon Cupra R which has basically the same engine has run 270-280 when RR'd on several occasions with just a remap. Its probably the huge torque your noticing, they have been know to go over 300lb/ft....

Sure is...keeps your head firmly planted against the head rest...totally changed my opinion of these 'hairdressers' cars!

Sports cats, exhaust mods and induction mods, add very little and usually nothing at all power wise, may be give a bit more torque mid range, but the limiting factor on a chipped TT, is the turbo cant supply enough air higher up the rev range, so nearly all chipped cars will still only produce around 1-1.1 bar of boost at the top end of the rev range ~ 6800rpm

which limits the max power the engine will produce to no more than 280bhp with most being around the 270bhp mark.

Total bollox IMHO. A friend of mine has a mark 4 golf gti 150 and with an AMD conversion using standard internals he is running in excess of 330bhp. I'll dig out the thread if you think I'm talking crap

Not total bollox - the golf in that thread does indeed have a different turbo

he! he!

oh yes add a new turbo and its a whole different story the 1.8t engine is a brute strength wise, ive seen a few 150 engines making over 320bhp reliably, and the 210/225 engines are supposed to have even stronger internals!!!

The only major difference on the 210/225 is a lower compression ratio, ALL 1.8T's have Mahle forged pistons.

Its amazing, I have never heard of anyone blowing one of these units up, surely somebody must have ?

Have only driven a 1.8 T Golf with it in and it was pretty slow but what superb potential.

LOL Electric Six wrote a song about the TT..

Girl!
I wanna drive a gay car,
I wanna drive a gay car,
I wanna drive a gay car, gay car, gay car.

Let's start a war, start a nuclear war,
In a gay car, gay car, gay car.
Wow!
In the gay car.

Now tell me do ya, a do ya have any money?
I wanna spend all your money,
on a gay car, gay car, gay car.

(Pause)

I've got something to put in you,
I've got something to put in you,
I've got something to put in you,
In the gay car, gay car, gay car.
Wow!

You're a superstar, with the gay car.
You're a superstar, with the gay car.
Yeah! you're a superstar, with the gay car.
You're a superstar, with the gay car.
Superstar.
Super, super, superstar

TaviaRS's did but his was down to MAF failure It had done one hell of large amount of track miles with thousands of miles at Nurburgring and was still very strong until the MAF failed.

I think TT's are very nice, stick a set of coilovers on it and it really does handle well. The link below is a pic of my mates APR Tunned Roadster....we won best Audi at this years Edition 38 show.
