New car for 14-15k....opinions please.....
Folks I am on the hunt for a new car the budget it about 14-15k ish. So far I have narrowed it down to these choices (not in any order of preference).
1)Lotus Elise S1 111s - Looks ok is quiet quick but a bit temperamental and if not careful could get costly.
2)Honda Integra Type-R DC5 - Again looks the biz, is very rare, fairly quick and also quite affordable to run and keep. But being an import will there be any re-sell value in about 12-18 months time???
3)Mitsubishi Evo 6 - FAST!!!!! Expensive to maintain, but may be worth it for the smile factor alone!!!!
4)Lotus Elise S2 Standard - Looks so god daaaam sexy.......is fairly quickish, but more refined then an S1 so should be a bit cheaper to run.
5)Honda S2k - Fairly quick, reliable BUT has hairdresser image and is common.
Please note that I am coming from an ATR and the new car will be my only car and I cover about 15kish a year. Can I please have your opinions on the above cars and any others you wish to give. Oh and the car must not be more then about 4years old.
thanks
Bing

S2000 common???? What are you on? The Elise, now THAT's common. The S2000 has the least hairdressery image of all the soft tops apart from tvrs. anyway you might struggle to get a 4 year old one for less than £15k but they are out there. High insurance but great cars. Good for long journeys, economical if you keep out of vtec. Will be the cheapest to run of the cars you mentioned.
Elise - dubious reliabilty, compromised space, not good for long journeys but great fun go cart like cars. You'll want the 111s as the lack of power in the std version will have you wanting, however the newer one is nicer. 15k with it being your only car may tire you.
Evo - expensive, short service intervals, crap on fuel, small fuel tank but manically fast .
Integra - good cars although prolly the slowest of your selection. Harder to sell on as many people don't know about them as they're all imports(?) I think but there is a following so sales will come eventually. Although very good fwd, it's still fwd and probably the least desirable of the cars you mentioned.

I like this car for it's point to point ability and frankly the best value for money - and with 220 bhp and weighing in at 1.25 tonne, it's not shy compared to the rest, and can accomadate 4 people - sort of
My choice is the integra !
Very genral prediction of performance from http://www.letstorquebhp.com/
Power at Flywheel (BHP) 220
Weight without Driver (KG) 1250
Drive Type Front Wheel Drive (FWD)
Power To Weight Ratio (BHP/Ton) 178.83
0-60mph (Secs) 6.18
0-100mph (Secs) 15.36
60-100mph (Secs) 9.18
Quarter Mile (Secs) 14.56 @ 97.34 MPH
Drag Quarter Mile (Secs) 14.36 @ 99.06 MPH
*EDITED WITH CORRECT DETAILS*

According to that site, the DC5 weighs in at 1250kg, not 1000kg. The rest of the figures don't match either. e.g. 0-100 is 15.36 etc. Still quick motor none the less, on a par with the std Elise maybe?
