Recommended cars for £25-£30k
Was originally going to get an MY05 STI, have been put off by reports of people breaking into houses and carjackings etc (First child due in January so can do without the added worry). I live in London and it would be parked on the street too.
Am now thinking about either a 2nd hand BMW 530i (new shape) or a Toyota Landcruiser, fairly bizarre choice but anyone have experience with either of these or can recommend other alternatives.

Current edition of Autocar mag has its top 100 used performance buys in £5k bands - some good ideas there. Why lose massive depreciation on a new car?
Then again, if you park on the street in London and worried about it why not save £25k and buy a sporty Mondeo?

Living in the country side is very different to my brothers life style as a medical student in London, i hate the place myself, but if i had to drive in and around the place i would get a 2.5 DHSE range rover or an early 4.4 vogue (maybe).
Big cars, safe comfortable, the least stressful way of getting around in traffic IMHO !!!
