Not bad! for its age
I did see a ford mondeo for sale in the autotrader a few weeks back, ex private hire car, 98 R reg, 567k (or was that 576k?) on the clock it was only about 450 quid, pretty cheap really dunno if it was the original engine though....

Remarkable - also remarkable that this driver must have spent most of his time since 1981 behind the steering wheel. Just think of the time involved doing that even if averaging a highish speed.

Sachinides is due to hand over his record-breaking car to the company for display in Stuttgart, on Friday.
Laugh if he writes it off tomorrow

Was in a Merc 300D mini cab with about 500k miles a few years ago in London run by 2 brothers. Basically one did the night shift and slept all day, the other vice versa. Brother one would get the car home and jump out, the brother 2 would get in and do another 12 hours. The car apparently didn't get cold between services!!

I have a feeling that our friend Mr Sachinides may be getting a shiny new E Class for his troubles....

If only mercs were still made like that. Many cabbies out in europe are shifting away form mercs, many going for skodas (I can see the Superb model being rather popular).

Dapster - probably the best way to run a car. Most engine damage is done when it's cold so if it never gets cold, it should last well.
