Question EVO V or VI?

Anyone owned/driven or been in these two cars with a bit of an insight on how different they actually are? I guess my main question is whether it's worth paying 1 - 2k more for VI considering they can both be had with similarly low mileage?
Thanks for any help!

Hi,

I have both. The 5 is better because it's cheaper and lighter, especially if you get the RS version which I'd recommend.

Question

You've got both (in a high pitch voice)! How come?
I've read the V has much harder suspension, which is a 'pain' on our bumpy roads - is this true?

the 5 & 6 are essentially the 'same' with minor difference's for WRC homologation IIRC.

(different front bumper, twin blade rear spoiler, minor engine/suspension changes)

I have a 5 & have driven a few 6's IMO there isn't really any big noticable differences

I would say no it's not worth the difference & I actually prefer the looks of a 5 over a 6 (unless it's a TME)

The 6 looks like the bumper has a bra on it

Untrue! I had a 6 for a year, which I couldn't fault after 10K miles.

Later got a 5 and have done 24k miles in 18months, pretty much the same to drive, feel exactly the same ride to me. Have always found the seats comfy which probably makes up for any harshness, but with standard suspension on both, have no quibbles with either. 5's are that bit rarer but same insurance. I'd go for the 5 and save the 2k for servicing/tyres/mods

But is the 6 really much better than the 5? Surely it would be best to get the 5 and spend the 1 - 2k you'd save on mods?

I thought thr 6 had some stronger internals and better cooling, plus the 6's seats are better. Check on MLR for facts!

I have a 6, had two scoobs before, Absolutely love the 6, suppose its practically the same as my mates 5, except the 6 is newer, you can get 99 up to 2001/2.....so for me.....i would always buy as new as I can afford. If you can afford the 6, get it, its newer and will hold its value better.

Hasn't the 6 got a bigger intercooler?
My bro used to have a 6 which was mildly tuned. A blindingly quick car!
A m8 has a pretty much std. 5 atm. Not as quick as I thought it'd be but he's had a few probs with it and I haven't been in it yet. Only followed behind in my car
For looks alown I'd go for the 5 (a black one as this would be the vehicle, and colour, that the devil will come to earth in. So its been said). But I'd 2nd the 'buy as new as you can' comment. My bro would kill me but that front bumper on the 6... just something i dont like about it.
LMFAO re bra comment
