He's not that far off regarding mint ones. Prolly £1500 to £2000 though, not £2k to £2.5k althoughs there's one with 63,000 miles going for £2,200. Whether he'll get it or not is another matter.

I bought my 8v for £1800 but it's in immaculate condition.
Was supposed to be a temporary car until I get my ITR but I could see me keeping both unless financially I needed to sell. And will be expecting at least my money back too.

A good friend of mine sold a very clean G-plate MkII for £3200 just over a month ago (he only paid £1800 for it a couple of months previously ). It was completely standard with 53000 miles. Seemingly he had people chewing his arm off even when it was advertised at 3k - the buyer paid £200 over the odds to secure it!
I'm not saying they're worth it but people are prepared to pay ridiculous amounts of money for clean ones.
MkI's are even more ridiculous i'm told?

A "mint" oak green 16v (or similar nice colour) with little or no mods could easily go for over £2500.
Have seen ones go for a lot more too as they are getting rarer to find in really good condition
I personally wouldn't pay that for one, but have been into VW's in general for years now and know what daft money some people are prepared to pay rather than look around for a few weeks
I currently have a Diamond silver Mk1 gti (mint condition) with a Mk2 16v (KR) lump in it, and reckon I could sell it for daft money. A standard "mint" Mk 1 campaign could probably get about £4k

Little help needed!
Hey all, I've got an immaculate bodied white GTi 16v that needs a new exhaust manifold and brakes all round. Can't afford to do the work myself at the moment and need to shift the car before the end of the year. It has four lovely BBS alloys and new low profile tyres all round. Bit stumped as to what to do with it! Anyone got any good ideas??
