Hey up matey
Ive owned a G-Reg intergrale 16v in Ferrari Red it was a very eye catching car but cost me a fortune.
I brought the car on the understanding from the garage it was standard.
Standard was it **** 300 bhp / Blew the head gasket / strip 4 teeth on the cambelt / no bent valves blew the transfer box bearing and became very un reliable.
If you do get one make sure you buy a box standard one and i would seriously think about buying one from walkers up near your way i think simon.
Get a type R without bragging and ive got my flame suit on ready there is not alot that we cant keep up with or beat going round donno. Westies/ catherams / evo`s / elise you name it.

I always found the same with the RA, apart from the gearing it would stay with pretty much anything on track. I always stuck to the tighter circuits
I've got a guy coming to buy the clio (all being well) as I'm sick of towing (and don't have the space to store car and trailer) so potentially have some money to spend..... although i'm sure TKH will relieve me of most of that as his guys are rebuilding the Mi16 205 at the mo. Anyone who wants an Mi16, newly built and ready for some fast track action- let me know.
Front drive just bores me rigid though..... and before I get flamed, yes I do know how to drive it. I was running a 205 rally car in the Lombard in 89, then a 5GT Turbo 90-92 (incredibly fragile).
I think I may go back to a classic Impreza if I can find the right one- probs an early RA, as I don't want too much money tied up. Although..... I was offered a lovely Group A tarmac spec Escort Cossie the other day.......

I ve owned 2 evos:
1x evo1 modded to 300/300, great fun but staggering fuel consumption and stress fractures in body shell. Cost a fortune to run.
1x evo 2 standard but was so slow in comparison, less easily modifiable due to smaller turbo and catalyst. Stress fractures in body shell rampant, and rust an issue, cost a fortune to own.
They look fabulous, well evos especially, handle superbly, have so much charisma, and are the next best thing to owning a Ferrari for sheer desireabilty and a sense of motorsport history and glamour. Something Japanese cars can simply never achieve for some reason. Finding a good straight one is nigh on impossible now.

My advice would be, buy the best you can afford. Mine cost me a fortune as the garage at the time (dodgy northern Integrale Specalists) were buying a load of knackered up dogs from Germany and the likes and selling them on here for lots of money, mine fast became a money pit..
Had the best steering feel of any car I have driven, looks the dogs. get a limited edition one and you should not loose money on it either. Best of all you need luck and lots of it.

No!, these were lot worse, based in Poulton Le Fylde...

I thought the crisp makers were the best to go too. Looked at an EVO1 myself but seemed less reliable than my old GTIR so didn't bother but had I bought one I would have gone to them.

I've been a Grale owner for a few years and spoken to plenty of Lancia people and all I can say is if you want to keep hold of your money don't touch W****rs with a ****ty stick! Very very over priced and their the kind of garage that once you've bought the car they don't want to know if anything goes wrong under the so called warranty, and there cars from what I've seen aren't the best. Have you tried Kankuu he only has the better examples in. And the Evo I have have at present is more relable than the Scooby I had previous. You pay's your money? Tony

Owned a 260BHP Evo 1 for a year, bit of a love/hate relationship really. Thought I'd bought the best one money could buy, only 33km's on the clock, really nice condition etc however it wasn't long before it had sprung an oil leaks everywhere including the crank which was a big job, followed by 2 melted pistons not long after, then an uprated fuel pump was required, uprated clutch, the list was endless and so many little niggles all the time, none of which came cheap. Seemed like it was in the garage more times than it was on the road. Coupled with 12MPG and a litre of fully synthetic oil just about every other fill up of fuel this is one thirsty car. Wouldn't run one as a main car, and if you like giving your cars a good work out, then just be prepared for something to go wrong, if your thinking of taking one on the track probably suggest you buy a properly uprated one cos I don't think the std cars are strong enough to cope anymore.
When everythings running right though its the best car ive ever driven, steering feel, handling, engine still delivers good performance(when chipped) and you really feel you are in a very special car (everyone wants to talk to you about it), would totally agree with Zoog's summing up

My advise is if you want one get one, if you find good one it'll be the best car you ever own. And as for the expense of owning a Grale with the exception of a Gearbox rebuild all the work done on my car is carried out by my local garage. I've had a few high performance cars Scooby included, and as a drivers car the others don't come close, there as quick but somehow not as involving! Get one as much as anything else there gorgeous. I use a relatively un-modded 1989 16V Integrale every day - took a while after I bought it from the previous owners to get it right, but once all their bugs were ironed out, it's been reliable, comfortable and quick.
Bought with no rust - it still has no rust after standing outside in all weathers for the last 6 / 7 years.
I'm 6ft tall and have no problems with the seating - although some do.
My mods are HID lights (thanks to group buy off hear a year or two ago), a chip from Evo Engineering (it had an Italian chip in it when I got it and with no info on it's requirements it ran awful) and leather front seats (original alcantara ones wear on side bolsters).
Stress cracks - a problem excerbated by the previous owners lowered springs - big wheels/thin tyres don't help - and ruin the road abilities. I do have a pretty long list of their occurances - knowing where to look in a pristine car can reduce the proud owner to a gibbering wreck - and reduce the purchase price - pretty easy to sort if you can weld - 98% of them are hidden behind trim etc so no external painting normally required.
MPG - crap - 19mpg - but it's fun using all those fossil fuels! Not many people expect to see the back end of an F-reg Golf look-a-like pull away like greased poo off a teflon shovel - uphill! Fully loaded with junk!
Oil useage - like any looked after car, it uses a tiny amount - it is 15yr old! Buy a thrashed, un-serviced wreck and it'll probably drink it - like any other car in similar condition. But use 10W60 full synthetic - anything else has been proven to be next to useless.

Saw an Evo 2 driving along the High Street in Hampstead last month - Giallo Fly or whatever the bright yellow colour was called - it was simply stunning. Stunning. Really made my day.
