diesel tuning
anybody know anything about tuning/chipping/progamming diesels?
just bought a newish fiesta tdci (no laughing, i'm trying to be sensible and pay my mortgage off early!?)
there seems to be a lot of options, just not sure what to do.
any advice would be appreciated
thanks

It all really boils down to going for a tuning box, or a remap.
Tuning box is usually cheaper, has the advantage of being removable (e.g. when the car's being serviced etc) and you can in theory sell it on when you sell the car. Disadvantage is that they can make the performance a bit lumpy and "all or nothing", and can generate a lot of smoke.
A remap can be customised to your car & needs (at least I think it's possible with the TDCi -- some tuners like Jabba Sport have a range of maps to choose from, and do a rolling road test too) and usually delivers a more drivable power boost than a tuning box. Downsides are it's more expensive, and may well void your warranty.
You pays yer money & takes yer choice.
Edited to add that it isn't really worth considering mods that you'd do on petrol cars like air filters and exhausts without re-mapping first.

I have the same engine in my car, and the tuning is limited to basically the above options. Superchips offer a remap which will give 85bhp and 135-140lb ft of torque, but that's the limit. As there is no intercooler you'll be struggling to get any more without serious expense.
