Merc SL55 AMG...
Had a play with one of these beasts the oter day...
I got the pull on him from the lights and supprisingly round the corners too but he pulled past me quite rapidly on the straights as was expected...
Anyone got specs on these beasts, i know it was a V8 as it sounded amazing when coming past me at full throttle...

I tried to pass on in me Terzo a while ago. Down a slight hill in to big roundabout on to dual carriage way.
I was full tilt and thought I'd get him ....................... untill he saw me put his foot down and became a dot in the distance.
Very, very quick car

My other halfs dad's got one of these, and it'd kick the **** out of most things in a straight line.....there's no skill involved in getting that 0-60 time, you simply plant your foot, and the car does the rest, 4.7s every time you want them. You might get that now and again in a modified scoob, but it's difficult to be that consistent!

I had the pleasure of one for a week but handed it back after 4 days. 500 BHP is too much for two wheel drive and it was scary in the wet. I feel much "safer" in my STI8. However, it pulled knicker elastic at 200 yards!!!!

Had a race with one recently in my scoob on a big stretch of road, and he toatally wasted me, never seen anything move as quick as a standard car you can buy out of a showroom, also someone i know who has an Audi RS6 reckons he had a play with a SL55 AMG and said he struggled to keep up with it.

SL55AMG
Test in ams 8/2002
Testgewicht 1937 kg
0 - 80 km/h 3,1 s
0 - 100 km/h 4,4 s 62.5mph
0 - 120 km/h 5,8 s
0 - 140 km/h 7,3 s
0 - 160 km/h 9,4 s 100mph
0 - 180 km/h 11,8 s
0 - 200 km/h 14,1 s 125mph
Really really fast
I've got a S55 same engine, very similar chasiis and suspension set up its a little heavier 1985kg but not much and only a bit slower
Even with a bad launch on a greasy road you can pull consistant 10secs 0-100mph runs with the traction control on. On a good dry road ith the traction control off it will go noticably quicker, but it's pretty hard on the tires 100ft+ skid marks no problem

It's fairly easy to lose traction if your clumsy even with the traction control on, but the car is really forgiving and cornering grip pretty high amazing for a car of this size, weight transfer catches up with you though in a series of S bends (good active suspension can only hide 2 tons of weight for so long )

Cheers for the input guys...
Yeah as all of you have agreed it did sound awsome but at the end of the day if your gonna be paying circa 100k for a car you dont want it sounding like a Nova...
Oh and i forgot to mention it was in wet conditions...

Regularly take these cars apart with my Cerbera.
Usual Merceded driver - they just try too hard with their traction control turned on as they can't control the power. Very heavy car, but as quick is the TVR over 100, which is the most impressive bit.

cerbera's been fine for a year, although the air con just packed up.
Unreliability is a bit of a myth - if your pockets are deep enough , it will run OK.
Spent less on this than my MY00 and P1 though, also shed the questionable/ dubious image.
I only need to race £80k+ cars now - nothing to prove ;-)

Obviously you have got something to prove if you still feel the need to race
Remember overtaking 2 4.5 Cerberas down Donington back straight - owners come up to me afterwards and ask if my Scoob is std. Err, yeah
Don't bother racing Cerberas now - got nothing to prove
