Need info on Renault 8 Gordini please!
Hi all,
Really struggling to find anything on the Renault 8 Gordini.
I have one in my sprint class on Sunday (Im in a 106 Rallye) and want to know the stats of the car ie 0-60, bhp, weight? etc etc and any experiences of whether it was a good car / handled / rated etc etc
cheers
Andy

Is this a silver one ? or can you name the driver/location of the car. My friend sold his 8 Gordini earlier this year. His was a quick car running cut slicks.
If you look at the all circuits sprint championship you'll get an idea of comparison times to other cars.

Unfortuantely they've removed the 2003 times now. If it is his car I can extra some more info.

Ah hah. The car you are referring to is a blue one. It was featured in an edition of RETRO Cars magazine and IIRC it is a special piece of kit. I'm at work at the mo but when I get home tonight I will dig out the mag and post the cars specs.
The chap built it whilst also building a second one for his missus albeit slightly detuned!!!

ADP,
Right mate, just dug out Feb '04 issue of RETRO Cars and here is the spec of the 8:
ENGINE
1548cc (Overbored R5GT Turbo block), loads of internal stuff, Twin 45s Lumenition ignition, R5 Turbo 2 oil pump, oil cooling system, alloy fuel cell, K&N cone filter, Hybrid exhaust from Transit and ZXR750, POWER: 173bhp @7500rpm
TRANSMISSION
Hybrid gearbox, Quaife shortened diff, shotpeened Group 4 half shafts, lightweight flywheel, Sachs R5 Group 2 paddle clutch.
SUSPENSION
LLowered 2.5 inches, adjustable Koni and Leda shocks, modified and strengthened steering arms, uprated bushes all round.
BRAKES
254mm Vauxhall vented discs front with Golf GTI calipers and Ferodo pads, master cylinder, and bias valve, AP Racingreservoir, all aeroquipped.
WHEELS
Madin 13inch alloys with Yokohama AO32R 175/60x13 fronts and 185/60x13 rears
INTERIOR
Safety Devices roll cage with extra door bars, Motolita steering wheel, perspex side windows, additional gauges, dials, relocated handbrake, gearshift and pedals, alloy door cards, Sabelt harnesses, Sparco seats, anti-wrong gear selection bracket.
Sorry, no 0-60 times etc. However, its not difficult to see that this little R8 is a right screemer with 173bhp compared to the standard R8 Gordini's 100bhp.
Reg is *** 500C.
Good luck on Sunday mate and let us know how you got on.

Wow seeing this bring backs memories of when I was a young lad living in London, my friends dad use to collect and deliver renaults from all over europe and he had one of the one's that competed in the 65/66 Monte Carlo Rally, he had to drive it to Monte Carlo, he picked us up from scouts in it I was about 8 at the time.

Ok well did a double drive with my dad.
Results as follows:
1. Chap in a Citroen AX 61.8ish
2. My Dad 106 Rallye 62.9 ish
3. Gordini 64.11
4. Me Rallye 64.31
Dam it!!!!
I now realise the AX actually broke the class rules! ( I think need to check this)
Saw a couple of scoobs who showed up to watch, also an evo8 and a few other nice toys
