Have you ever met a "full-time" fireman?
Working 4 days on and 4 days off (up here anyway) means that most have a second job!
Jammy gits.... if only I were allowed a second income.....

looks like Im not the only one who drives a car "too good for his job"
I have a 53 plate S2000(26k car) most people at work drive sheds. I spend most of my spare time trading / investing in the stock market, if I didnt I wouldnt drive such a nice car! Simple, I keep it fairly quiet, but if people ask me I do give them an honest (though not detailed answer) Other people do other things to get more income, ebay, carboots, jobs on the side whatever........its all good, the extra money can really make the difference between having enough money to live off or having enough money to enjoy.

Oh Please, most of the jobs a Uk firemen gets called too are putting out burnt out cars, statistically being in the building trade is far more dangerous...

A lot of people ask why I sold my Scoob and now drive a Mondeo.......
Its because after having gone out on strike and eventually agreeing a deal with the Govt. I have only seen 3% of the rise due to the b@stard$ moving the goalposts every time they are due to pay out the next instalment.......not that I am at all bitter
Although one of the guys on the watch did just win £300k+ on the lottery ... might try and tap him for a STi ??

But then again with the 15yr money going!!! that probably equates to a pay cut for us mate eh?? Still must'nt grumble at least we got a job eh??

Oh you guys stop, my keyboard is going to short circuit with the tears! I feel so sad for the poor hard up firemen in our local new £2 million pound fire palace when they have to go out on their 2 jobs a week at night and disturb their sleep and means they sleep in for their main job! Of course the training is good, thats all our local boys ever do, last bastion of good old british industrial working values! Wish we had 40 year old shift system rather than modernise like the rest of the world

In fact in the past 10 years or so the training on joining has got easier and easier, so a whining, whinging, *** jockey like your good self should have no problems getting in eh???
