Default Magnex backbox on Pug 205

Anyone got any tips on getting my Magnex BB to stay on properly.

Fitted it a few months back using assembly paste and brand new Olive clamp. All was fine, but its coming loose a bit now - i.e. when you move the backbox it wiggles about on the join rather than being tight.

Is it worth re-tightening, or should I just visit Kwik Crap or somewhere for them to tighten it up - they dont usually charge for that sort of stuff, but if they do will only be a fiver.

Bit cold at the mo to be under the car

My other worry is that someone has been trying to half inch it, as it was a very tight seal when I fitted it

Get the welder out

Or get on your back with a 13mm socket and do the job properly

I used exhaust putty mate and did the clamp up tight and its fine, I'd just jack that back near side up and re-tighten.

Double up on the clamps if theres space, they are pretty Heavy, mine on my Golf ripped the bracket of the chassis as it was a bit corroded so I made a new one and welded it on, didnt move anymore then !

Jacko, its an olive clamp, so only room for 1.

I have been bottoming out recently on spirited runs, especially the last LADS meet over the Dales. I think the BB is hitting the floor and pushing the join up

Will tighten up again I think.

I think its just where its bottoming and weakening the joint. There are no bump stops on the back as I cant get the rusted/welded crappy cups off the car to replace them (angle grinder time I think) so it bottoms badly.

Sorted now, the bracket was very loose and needed about 15 full turns for each bolt

Hopefully that should be it now.
