Off & On road 4x4 Recommendations
hi all,
the wife wants a new 4x4, we currently have the HR-V which is no good off road.
I'm hoping to buy her a 4x4 that is also good off road so i can take it so a few mud hill days etc
Anyone got any recommendations, we're looking something Freelander size.
Sean

brand new freelanders should be ok - the older ones are a crock-of-sh1te - a pal of mine had a V plate - so bad he dumped it back on the dealers premises and told them to "stick it" - court case is stil on-going.
Try a Discovery or a pukka range rover..

There are sone nice freelanders around - saw one today for around £8k, with green flip paint, which looked good.
How much ability do you want it to have off road though?
Bear in mind that it might get damaged off road, so it might make sense to get something a bit older, like an older range rover, or the late one, which is not that expensive now.
Defenders are similar off road, but worse on road, and the short w/b ones have no room in the back
Subaru Forester? Better than an Impreza GL off road (and they actually aren't bad), but perhaps not good for 'mud plugging'

I am very impressed with the car itself - performance (despite having a tight engine), handling, roadholding, steering, comfort, kit and general design.
It's not a true offroader in the same way that the HRV,CRV,Forester of RAV4 aren't either
