Idling problem.

Idling problem.
I've recently bought a second car to use for my daily commute.
N reg Astra 1.6 8v. 24k miles. FSH etc.
I changed plugs, filters and oil and replaced brake pads (the full extent of my mechanical skills).
This week the car has had problems idling when warm. The revs drop almost until the car stalls, then pick back up again and return to 1000rpm. This happens about every 30 seconds when stationary.
Anybody have any ideas what is causing this, and whether its something I could do myself??.
