My wife has a Renault Scenic which although is fantastic at what it does, is boring and bland. It means we use the scoob all the time, including pottering in to town back and to to work every day.(10 mile round trip).

After being rear ended in the snow(not much damage thank god), I'd like to change the Scenic for something practical but fun to drive that we can use regularly and keep the scoob for best.

Now the Scenic must be worth 8k or so, 51 plate 1.8 with 10000 miles, so would be happy to put about 4k towards it, making a budget of 12k.

Criteria, Diesel, fun to drive, good for the tip run, picking up stuff at homebase etc, would like a 4x4 type car, and nothing with Suzuki, Daihatsu, Daewoo etc on the boot.

Now for that sort of money I can pick up a 52 plate 3dr Frontera RS Sport 2.2 dti. My Dad had the 2.0 Petrol Sport on an M plate, and it was an absolute hoot. All the reviews continually slate the car, although my experience with it differed from the doom and gloom they paint.

Has anyone got one\had one, what do you think? Any alternatives at that money??

Unhappy

Ok went to see it.

OMG it is the WORST car on the road. <shudders>

Did see a very nice Zafira GSI though which was an absolute hoot to drive. May be a decent possibility for the wife!! Keep the scooby for best.

True, but a lot nicer to drive(than the scenic), went like stink and has seven seats. Cruise control, and sat nav will make long motorway journeys a breeze.

And yes......you did say!

i looked at the zafira as a swap from the wifes scenic....to small, to much squashed in and a useless engine in a van.
