AUDI A6 2.5 TDI
163hp was only from last year. A6 before that had either 150/155hp. Fuel economy not that great compared to the 1.9 which has almost the same power, but nice and smooth runners on a journey. Don't know much about tuning them, but seeing as there are 180hp factory versions of the smae engine, you'll be able to get that much at least.
My uncle had a 180bhp A6 TDI Quattro and it was a great car. It felt fast with lots of useful low down shove and he claimed it would put in a reasonable shift against my scooby (modded at the time). My brother borrowed the TDI and we raced them several times and each time the scooby pounded it into the ground so its not actually massively quick in a straight line. A very nice car though and nice and lazy to drive with good refinement

I also had the same engine in my 00MY A4 2.5 TDi Quattro - I chipped it and did 45k in 18 months in it. There are no real horror stories to be honest.
In terms of tuning, I've been around the houses with a number of cars in the VAG group and from experience would wholeheartedly recommend Jabbasport nr Peterborough, over AMD, RSD, and Superchips. They CUSTOM remap your car and spend absolutely ages on the rolling road to perfect it - not just a couple of runs.
The 150bhp V6 TDi became 163 as mentioned, and 180 for the quattro A6 sport. Its the same basic engine.
The 1.9TDi's I have had were punchier at the lowest revs, whereas the V6 was better higher up and definitely was quieter and more appealing on the noise side (unchipped and chipped).
