New M3 and Golf R32 exhauset sounds???
#1
Saw two of these today whilst walking - on two separate occasions.
Both shot off from the lights (they like to do that sort of thing around here) and both sounded like a sack of tin cans. The M3 sounded really bad - as if the exhaust was banging against some metal.
The R32 was a bit better, but just a random, course sound and no real 'beat' (unlike the legendary...but it's unfair to compare ).
Please tell me there was something wrong with these cars....

Only when cold. Get some heat into all the components and they sound much better. Means you cna tell who looks after their car and who just rags it from startup.

speaking from experience, i think my m3 sounds much better than any car ive had. kind of a pure sports car engine sound, rather than a weedy engine amplified by a dustbin on the back end.id rather hear an engine than an exhaust. or maybe im getting old

Nah, gotta say the exhaust note at high revs on the new M3s is simply spine tingling. It is really raw.
I'm about to leave mine in place of a 996, I juts wish it sounded as good! Oh well, sports exhaust!
