What's the performance like on these rather sleek looking cars?

Would it trouble a UK 99 Scoob, Tek 2 Decat? I feel a duel coming up soon...

No, wouldn't trouble one. 0-60 in 6 seconds, 0-100 in 17 seconds. Look nicer though

Ive had a "play" with one of these, he thought he was quicker than my old scoob (my00 PPP decat) but alas he was shown right up.
They are no match for a modded scoob, it would trouble a standard car though

Standard 330Ci timed at 5.9 to 60 in most EVO. I assume you mean the sport and not the 330CSL? If so, the sport is just a cosmetically enhanced 330, so the times will be approx the same.

Yep, guy I work with is getting a 330Ci - Sport version on 18's.

It's the in gear timings that would be interesting as obviously the 0-whatever traction favours the scoob.

By default they are over 200bhp...no transmission losses and I think it would be fairly tight...

As usual with these threads the cars are closer than you think and it would come down to the driver's ability.

So being as mainly ***** drive 3 series BM's the Scoob will win every time

I test drove one and it didn't feel that fast at all. Smooth though.

'Matched strides' with 330cis on two occasions recently in my old bog standard Tomcat Turbo (208 shown on RR but that RR maybe a little optimistic). Both occasions neither were able to keep up. Yes, at least one was really trying as I could clearly hear his motor with my driver's window down when he came alongside and then I floored it. Dunno why, I expected it to be closer.....

Lots of teutonic weight I guess.

MGJohn,

Seeing as your motor is of Britsh build he was probably worried it would blow up right alongside him and damage his paintwork so he didn't bother trying

Sorry, but these posts are just silly - yes he may have been trying, but how much you'll never know. As I keep saying the driver makes more of a difference than the car in most of these 'my car is faster than your car' posts.

Tiggers:

Mainly ***** drive scoobies in my experience, too.

The 'I must overtake you' line many takeis most amusing. I can't beat that feeling of pushing them into that danger spot in my old 117k 24v Mondeo and watching them **** themselves.

But that seems to be the Burberry boys.

fatherpierre,

Thanks for the reply, but my original comment was a little tongue in cheek (hence the wink) and alludes to my previous posts regarding BMW 3 series in here (on which I'm trying to walk a much fairer tightrope these days).

As for you deliberately pushing other drivers (Scoobies or otherwise) into the danger spot when they are trying to overtake then in my book you are an even bigger **** than those you seek to put in their place by your skillfull and cunning driving of that hidden motoring gem - the Mondeo

lol....if someone from a crappy terrace house said his house was better than mine because he can get from the front door to the kitchen faster than i can in my large detached house i'd probably care as much as the 3 series driver who gets a dump overtake him.

ppl buy a BMW because they are one of the best all round cars avalible and they dont want to compromise on 90% of those qualites to see an improvement in just one.

T

ps- when you guys walk down the street and see someone in front of you in a better suit do you jog past them and gauge if they were really walking or actually picking up the pace to a fast stride in order to keep your overtake at bay!

Question

Oh sorry, Tiggers. I seemed to have forgotten to put a in my post that you found offensive LOL.

The more you push the BMW issue (constantly), and you do - boringly, the more you receive.

But I don't think you're a ****, or even a ***. Not yet, anyway . Was that wink ok?

Plus, the Mondeo is a lovely car in V6 guise

So let's get this right fatherpierre.

Are you saying you do or don't deliberately try to prevent those overtaking you from completing their manoeuvre?

Your statement has nothing to do with whether I like or dislike BMW's - it is just plainly not very clever if true. You didn't punctuate it as to give the impression it was to be taken any other way than straight hence my comment.

Oh and btw, trying to get at me by going on about Scoobies won't work anyway as I don't currently own one. Keep trying!

Why would I try to 'get at you'? I have no axe to grind with anyone on the internet - it's not real! You were the one who called me a ****! I don't care what you drive, nor what anyone drives, to be honest.

My initial post you are referring to, albeit with the missing was meant in a light-hearted way.

Besides, I live in London where clear roads and overtaking are not a part of daily life.

You may now alight your high horse

fatherpierre,

10 out of 10 for avoiding answering the question and the political climbdown. Almost worthy of a Tory politician.

Not much of a defence though to keep posting things and then saying they were meant in a light hearted way when someone objects although Nacro should have known you must of been joking about the Mondeo

Anyway I got work to do so I'm not wasting any moe time on this one.

How can I climb down from something that doesn't exist?

Ok, I meant every word; I'm aiming for my 1st death by dangerous driving conviction. The Ford's in-gear acceleration hasn't been good enough thus far to close that gap in time, though.

How's that?

I'd better put in a and a , just to protect my flame suit.

Nacro: I've never ripped anyone off with my fine eBay products. Only bargains from me

Cool

...back to the original question, if anyone's interested (which you're probably not by now)...I had a 330CI and changed to a STI8PPP, after first test driving a std. scooby wrx.

Ignore 0-60. 30-70 is a much better test, and on this basis the beemer is quicker than a std. scooby. However, takes more skill to drive quickly, esp. in wet when traction reigns in the power a bit.

Those who've driven one and think it's slower - this is only subjective, as there's no turbo punch, it's quieter and smoother. It's quick in a silky smooth sort of way.

As for anything over 100 odd mph, the beemer will blow a std. scooby away. Not a WRX PPP or similar of course.

Just my 2p's worth of course.

hi chaps, on the subject of 330 bmw ive just had my 330d { 0-60 7.2} and 204 bhp remapped, its now got 241 bhp and 470 lb of torque, 0-60 around 6 seconds and pulls midrange like a bitch, the guy reckons it will frighten the **** out of an M3 from 30-100,
and still get 40mpg, lifes so sweet!!!

Sounds great - relaxing pace too...but I guarantee that if you drive it like you'd drive an M3, you will not get 40+ mpg. More like 30-35 if you're lucky.
