Hi Mate
Try and make sure it is started from cold. Listen to the cam chain and see if it is noisy. We had a few go at Windrush!! Water pumps are notoriously suspect look under the car at the exhaust to make sure that is all OK as they are expensive to replace.
Check all the normal items like rear bumpstops and rust around the sunroof if it has one. You will know from the owners attitude if its the right car for you. You said in your mail that it has some extra's on it but just make sure it hasn't been boyed up!!
Obviously check oil colour as well...

Hi Paul, just sold mine a couple of months ago- the cam chain will be noisy at first but should level down after 30sec to min. Check the oil as head gaskets can be suspect, also look at the coil pack-they can suffer from water damage, I have heard that on 100K engines the valves stick? mine had only 58K so it was fine. Check the electric windows esp drivers front then take it up to 70mph to make sure the suspension/steering is OK; they are very heavy on the front. I ahd mine for 3yrs and the only problem I had was an ABS sensor!

Hi Ian
Checked the oil last night and that was clean and looked good.
It does have a sunroof and I didn't see any rust but I'll have another look in a bit.
The car does have extras but only ones that are essential really, it has full leather, konis, wheels & brakes. Apart from that it's very clean.
It also has all the stickers all over it on the door shuts, rear panel etc & the original VIN panel.
When it was started last night it seemed cold and sounded sweet.
Thanks
Paul

Never heard of this "valve" problem myself. Mine has over 100K on clock with FSH, owned it for almost 3 years with no major probs. Head gaskets are a weak point around cylinder no6 but other than that if its` been looked after it`ll go forever!

Paul,
I had a VR6 Corrado which blew a head gasket and then a radiator a few months later. I seem to remember reading that rads are weak points on this engine.
Once we had the rad fixed the cooling fans came on a lot less. Lovely engine.
