I have a TDCi Ghia. I have had it for just over a year and bought it new. The interior is very good, the only occasional rattle/noise I do get is from the tailgate area. I think its the rear parcel shelf, it only happens over large bumps. The quality of the material is alot better than the Classic Imprezza I had before. The MPG is very good. I usually get over 500 miles per tank and thats some motorway and some town driving. I would think the mpg is around 46-50 with normal driving ie going over 70 quite a bit. If you took it really easy you could get over 50 mpg.
Hope this helps

Just make sure what you are buying is a 115 TDCi not the lower powered TDCi and definatly not the TDDi.
I have driven lots of TDCi Focus's and to be honest if I was buying a small family diesel I would have the Focus over the higher powered PD Golfs.
The smoothness and throttle response of the Ford unit together with the handling and feel of the Focus far outweighs the bit of extrs power a PD130 Golf has. IMO

i have a 115 TDCi focus zetec
got it new last july, done 8k miles now.
performance is great. i do country roads and town driving and get 48 mpg average.
it does rattle inside in bits... like at 1400 rpm or 2400 rpm i get a bit of a rattle in the dash. and some other parts do rattle at times too - vent vanes in centre of dash - tho there is a fix for that supposidly.
great handling.
good driving position.
very comfortable
cheap insurance.
loads of room.
quietest diesel ive driven.
as someone else said - best throttle response.
