Test drove a 911 (996) C4S today

Oh my god... this car is awsome, I've never driven anything like it in my life. I thought the Scooby had loads of grip but this thing was devastating, the power delivery was soooo smooth and pulled right through the rev range. I'm still grinning from ear to ear hours later.
I've never been out in a 911 before and the sheer engine noise is to die for.
Needless to say I put a deposit down immediately on returning to the dealership, I've definately gone off M3's now. Haven't told the wife yet, and may have to explain why we can't move house until next year. Mind you, you can't drive a house and you can only sleep in one bed room at a time.
Does anyone know of a Porsche forum?
Phil

www.funcarsonline.com is one the 996 board which I visit frequently. The site is American, so u'll expect some dentists asking for opinions on (or indeed sharing) their taste of colour/equipment combinations, but there are also a fair bit of technical stuff there. Apparently, quite a few ppl over there do diy mods on their 996s.

Strange. Jimmi from here test drove one recently and was considerably underwhelmed if my memory serves me. He's coming from an sti old shape though.
What scooby do/did you have?

Funnily enough, i also test drove a 996 c4 '02 this morning. Was also impressed but not 20k better than the M3 for me anyway. The car was great but its a bit tight space wise for my family so ive narrowed the next car down to the WR1 or M3.

Did the C4S have a Porsche sports exhaust? Wow they sound incredible.

C4S is definitely the car I'd have if I had the money. I actually think it looks nicer than the GT3 & Turbo and in terms of car for your money, is much better value. I know a guy who has recently gone from an M3 to one and is loving it.
My Dad has just got a C4 Cab too, just to make me even more jealous!
