Been looking through my company car list and quite like the Audi A3.
I have 2 on my list the A3 1.6 FSi Sport and the Audi 2.0 FSI. The Sport model has 17" and lots of extra's and the tax is £90 a month as opposed to £133 fo the 2.0
The 1.6 fsi does 0-60 in 10.9 secs 114lbs tourqe, and mated to a 6 speed box,
Will this be a complete dog ?. ANyone drive one owns one ? Im thinking this would be a better option than the 1.9tdi as I dislike diesels with a passion.

Get the 2.0Tdi, its supposed to be the best drive of all the current A3's plus you can get the S-line package on that model with 18" RS6 wheels, leather/alcantara sports seats and a few other nice bits & bobs.

thats great apart from the 2.0 TDI is 2k more (without options) and not in my car list, Which would mean paying to go to that level and then paying for the increase in company car tax.
the aim is a cheap to run little car and the 1.6 seems to make financial sense its just whether it is tedious to drive.
I have the scooby as the weekend car.
Its either this or a 1.6 golf or diesel golf, but do prefer the a3.

You can check specs, emissions, tax burden etc at Fleet News and clicking on the Tax Calculator button. Choose your car & spec, and it gives you the figures.

Also try the co2 calculator on www.audi.co.uk
Because the 2.0TDI is a new low emission engine in 2004/5 you will be taxed on 16% of the value compared to 17% for the 1.6FSI and 22% for the 2.0FSI.
The 2.0TDI has 236lbs of torque which is the same as an R32 golf which means its very rapid once on the move, but you'll also be averaging 50mpg.
Personally I would forget the 2.0FSI as it's not a lot quicker than the 1.6FSI.
I personally would try and get the 2.0TDI, because you will actually pay less tax. If you can't then go for the 1.6FSI and live with the extra creature comforts.
I'm currently in the process of swopping my R32 for a 2.0TDI with DSG and the s-line pack. It's going to save me a huge amount each month.
