I nearly bought one.
When I went to the motorshow with Gossy I saw the STi8 and almost ordered one then I saw the RX8 and decided I couldn't make my mind up.
Glad I didn't get one though cos I've heard even with normal driving they return about 17-19 mpg

Stunning looking cars in the flesh - a real head turner IMHO, especially in black.
Not yet been out in one, but definitely fancy a spin.
With only having a 1.3 engine, does it qualify for reduced Road Tax?

Yeah my sister has one, 220 bhp one, in red with red and black leather. Very well specced car with Sat Nav
Very nice car to look at, easy to drive quickly - and get a speeding ticket in !
Personally will be waitinf for the twin turbo version.
oh and petrol consumption is terrible !!

I doubt they will release a twin turbo RX8 ... they learnt that lesson with the third gen rx7 ... too complicated, too hot and too expensive. I would be suprised if they release any form of turbocharged RX8 ... Mazdaspeed may release a special edition though and aftermarket kits seem to be springing up all over in Japan at the moment.
P.S
It won't be eligible for cheap tax as tax is decided on CO2 output on new cars. (even if it were the 1.3 rotary is classed as 2.6 piston engine equivilent due to the way it works)

Lovely car to drive and looks quite nice too...
Not really my thing, as there's not enough torque low down the rev range. Still good fun though!
I had an hour's test drive and used 1/4 tank of fuel. Thirsty just about covers it...

Hmmm, I saw a black one the other day for the first time & TBH it didn't really stand out as anything special. If I hadn't known what it was I probably wouldnt have given it a 2nd glance.
Sounded awesome though, maybe in another colour it would have stood out a bit more

Test drove one last saturday, found you had to give it some real welly to get it moving if you were below 4K revs, i also test drove the xfire and 350Z, 350Z wins for me..far more involving drive than the 8 imho, felt more responsive and handled superbly, x-fire fun but no thanks. The more i stared at the RX8 in the showroom, the more i started to question its lines as well..just cannot make my mind up about the marque

I'm also an ex Scoob owner. I had a MY03 with PPP which will obviosuly thrash an RX8. But the RX8 is superb inside, isn't that much slower than a Scoob in real world driving and has just as big a grin factor as the Scoob. Economy is definitely not its strong point and yes you do have to keep the revs high-ish to get the best out of it. Mine's in Winning Blue and looks stunning - I'll post a pic shortly. Loved the Scoob - just fancied a change and as there's only ever the two of us with the very occasional extra passenger the RX8 was ideal.
200 more miles before I can take it past 6.5k rpm!!!!

Has anyone driven both the 190 and 220 bhp versions. I recall reading a revue which said that the better in-gear road driving car is the lower powered one, as it has more torque available lower down the rev range. Or am I wrong? Lovely car though, we have a dealer about a mile away, so we see quite a lot of them tootling around. Had a look round one but somehow it didn't seem that special. But then again, 2 minutes earlier I had been looking around an Enzo

I took one for a test drive a couple of weeks ago, very impressive car. Stuck to the road like poo to a blanket. Very comfortable driving position, all round nice car and reasonably priced too.

I would have to say that lack of torque has never been an issue but then coming from a Civic Type-R it wouldn't be 'cos I'm quite used to shifting around when needed
Did miss the 'VTEC Kick' the first couple of times I took it to the redline though, got used to that now.
