Hi

Well, its finally happened, split with my girl over xmas so now back at my mums, feeling quite down about it, so dont know weather to keep with the original plan of getting another car, like scooby or itr, or to get somewhere to live as she has chucked out of hers, i could prob get a flat on mortgage with the money saved for another car??

Dont really like living back at mums, seems weird being 27 and at home

The sensible person in me is keep the BMW and get somewhere to live, but the other side is get another car to cheer me up??

Dunno, what do you lot recon??

Flat or house, rent a room out and then use the extra $$$ to fund a car...

Id say get a flat, and spend a bit kitting it out as you want.

Not sure what sort of budget your looking at, rent or buy (just seen above), but if you got a decent place, at least you can feel at home, and thats a big help when trying to stay off feeling depressed.
Get a few bits like a home cinema or something, something to cheer you up a bit (XBOX or Playstation too).

If you want to pull, or meet someone else, you dont want to be taking her home to your bedroom in your folks place. On the other hand, you could get away with a few months at home if you wanted to up the budget for a place, but dont fall into a trap of living the easy life at home and staying there, at 27 Id say you have to have your own space.

If you've got a beemer already, then wait for a scoob etc, as I recon you may end up spending any potential moving out moneys on bits for it, petrol, servicing etc, and althou it'll give you instant happiness, getting a place of your own, and having a scoob to work towards, will give you it in the long run, IMO.

Good luck whatever you choose, breaking up is not fun.

Gav888, know where you are mate, split with my wife 3 days before Chrimbo. was looking to sell my Scorpio, but what the hell, selling the house and starting again !! Know how you feel m8, chin up though. At least if I move insurance should be cheaper, means I can get me Scoob. (brave face and all that !!)

Thumbs up

my uncle (owns a Mad RX7) once said

" you can sleep in your car but you can't drive your house!"

drive fast, die young!

on a serious note, I was in a very similar situation last autumn, was saving to get a flat with the then missus of 3/4 years, all went t!ts up. Moved in with a friend for a couple of months, brought a scooby with the dosh I had saved and havent looked back since.
considering the property market at the moment i think it was probably wise.
