I have a friend who is currently in the market for a 1994-onwards Celica 2.0 GT or GT4/GT4 WRC

I have trawled the Net looking for info. and whilst I have found some info. on them I can't find any reviews/comments from actual owners....can anyone assist as I am a Scoob owner and am not too well educated on the Toyota Marques.

Cheers in advance.....

Had a 2.0 GT for a couple of months as a company car a few years back...it was absolutely pants...felt like it was made from baked bean cans, had got no go whatsoever, was really glad to get rid...nearly as bad as the auto 328 I was given to replace it with (I fekkin hate automatics!!)

2.0gt is very lame.....no torque and no kick whatsover. They are reliable etc but its a bit of a joke as a 'performance' car....go for the GT4....even they need to be tuned a bit to get them to really go....

late gt4s are well rapid as standard, more go than a standard uk scooby, 245bhp standard! i drove a celica gt over christmas for two weeks and they are slow, older ones are faster (old being rounder pop up light one) as its got lower gear ratios an tvis engine.

Not much room in the back of the GT4 but it is quite quick.

I was surprised when I picked mine up (Celica SS2 173bhp). Does everything really well given the cost of buying and owning. They can look good, they handle well and go OK. Very reliable. 4k gets a good example, averages 33 mpg I timed mine with my G Tec thingy and got the following results:

0-60 8.1, 7.9, 8.0
0-100 20.4, 19.9, 19.7

It's not fast but it's only a 2.0 so what do you expect?

You won't find a NA 2.0 as quick and frugal - certainly not from Subaru!

GT4 - Definitely!

My other half used to have a ST165, which we sold a few years ago. Just before Christmas we got a ST205, which is the 94 onwards model. It's the most fun I've ever had in a car! They are so easy to mod as well, and the folks on the GT4OC forum are really helpful.
