There is no way on God's green earth that a honda civic would develop enough exhaust gas or power to warrant a 4.5" bore exhaust. You got off lightly, If I was a copper you would get an instant 30yr ban.

It may well of been the fashion police and they can do you on the grounds of indecent exposure or possibly protecting the public from acute embarrassment.

I think what my fellow forumites are trying to say is that there shouldn't be any physical reason why a civic exhaust should be that big, however legally there is no limit on the size of your exhaust so the copper was well and truly in the wrong, and probably knows it..... UNLESS you were contravening noise regulations or it somehow presented a danger to your, or other vehicles, on the road!

Why is this type of exhaust de rigeur for scoobs, yet frowned on when put on a civic turbo?

Give the guy a break will yer.

In terms of unfeasibility the new bonnet scoop on the Scoob is a bit suspect. I reckon you could stuff a cat through the apperture (and no that's not a suggestion for Mr Lau).

I would not be suprised if the police decided to pull over an STI 03' with the words "your bonnet scoop is to big replace it with a classic one"!

How the hell are the police allowed to have a say on what size of pipe you have!!!!!! Its fuggin stupid!

Wink

It depends on your attitude to the plod when they pulled you over, but it's more than likley your exhaust sounded too loud and they were not happy about it...if it was suspected to be 'excessivly noisey' then you should of got a producer.

They may of just been stating a fact that it 'looked' too big for the car.AFAIK there are NO laws dictating what size exhaust you can or can't have aslong as it isn't a danger to others/insecure or exessivley noisey.

I was always told to be polite if pulled over(regardless of your personnal opinionsas this will be reflected in how you are spoken to/treated.

Soz Simon. Couldn't resist

Just out of interest do people generally mis-pronounce your name i.e. loo, low, law ? Only reason I ask is because my surname is Yau and I get it all the bloody time

I bet you had your front fogs on too, even though it was (probably) daylight or dark but not foggy

IMHO anybody that has a massive back box on their car is quite sad. See plenty of pics on here of owners with these massive cans on the back, and it just looks ridiculous. The largest ive ever had on the back is a 4" scorpion, and currently have a scoobysport, 3.5" and they more than competently do the job.

belive it or not the exhaust is rather quiet! it has a large centre box, and does not sound raspy or anything like that, i think its the turbo that has quieted it down! and try telling some of the scooby boys that there blitz nur spec looks ****e! and see what answers you get back.

I posted a simple question asking about a law that i thought i could get some sensible answers from, some of the answers i got were helpful and thank you, but to the RETARDS that didnt read the question properly and just abused me just keep your opinions to yourself and grow up!
