Help fixing mk5 escort please
#1
I'm currently in the process of trying to make my mums old mk5 escort trundle again!
Basically the car won't start, and the fuel pump isn't priming. I'm planning on checking the fuel pump relay, unfortunately I don't know which one it is.
So has anybody out there got access to an old haynes manual, and if so, can you please help me in my quest
Cheers

Not got a haynes but my girlfriends rs2000 had same symptoms - some are fitted with a sensor which knocks off fuel pump in the event of a crash (can trigger for no apparent reason!) it can be reset by switch on the top. It can be fitted behind centre of dash, under seat or in boot under spare wheel dependant on model and year. Hope this helps!

It could help if you were a bit more specific with the car details...like what engine, carb, efi, etc!!
There is an Intetia switch on the drivers side footwell behind the R/H kick plate. But this only on EFi models (IIRC)
Other very likely fault is the Fusebox, they are extremely common (I'm yet to find a MK5 on it's original fusebox!!) So if your getting no voltage at the fuel pump or ECU and the fuses are OK, then that is a likely cadidate...and they aren't cheap either

I know it's a month late but i've only just been going through my old posts and realised I didn't reply.
I managed to get a manual in the end, and it ended up being some obscure central relay.
Cheers for your help though
