03/53 Reg or 04/53 REG
#1
Well the new motor's at the dealers, can't get it till late November due to going away next week. Question is should I get the dealer to hang on to it for another month making it a '04 reg car.
Any idea of the price difference over say a year?
Obviously it's the same car with the same build date and will be sitting in a field for a month, but with Christmas coming it will be idle for 2 weeks anyway while I get p1ssed.
It's an A3 3.2 Sport.

Up to you at the end of the day, but if I was the dealer, no way would I let you wait, without some form of compensation. So look at getting a lower offer on your part-ex (if you have one) in return for waiting.

In which case its really up to you. Myself, I'd not worry about it, it will make next to sod all difference when you come to sell. So I'd get it now, run it in gently up to Christmas and have it raring to go in the New Year.

Nah - cloth standard. I got half leather/alcantara for £670 I think full leather was £1200. But it's fairly priced compared to the S3 or even a Scooby, mine was £22650 + toys.
Gonna try to get an 04 reg - will be worth £300-500 0ver a year/18 month I reckon. I can wait.

Worrying over a few £100? C'mon, you're a contractor - contractors don't obsess over money now do they
I have to say, I'd not be able to wait for that amount of potential loss. If it's sitting there waiting, I'd go for it now. If you let it fester, they'll only bring it into the showroom early and let common people sit in it. Can't be having that....
Still, don't do what my workmate did. Got his new Honda S2000 in December, and brought it into work on the 1st day to show us all. He took someone else in the passenger seat out on the 1st lunchtime, and I took off behind him in the Scoob. We went up round the back of Kirkliston on the roads down to the back of the airport....and it was very ICY - ICE & S2000 do not go as he found out to his cost - he booted it round a corner (I was cringing), but he was ok. Next corner, he did the same, and did a full 360 degree on the REALLY narrow road off the main Kirkliston/Cramond road. I obviously didn't have the same prob in the Scoob (I was keeping well back!) and came to a halt to find both of them ****ting their pants in the now stationary S2000. He had missed a metal farm gate by inches on his full 360 spin!
Needless to say, I am a stickler for pi$$ing myself laughing in these situations once I know everything is ok - he'd scraped the underneath of the front valance, and it needed a respray, but other than that, he was AN EXTREMELY lucky boy.
Worse was nearly to come, as he did the same thing again almost on the now slow run back to work. It was VERY icy! I did tell him he should have got a nice 4WD saloon, but he had never listened.
His wife went nuts.
Still, alls well that ends well - he smashed it again the next winter on Queensferry Road coming out from Davidson Mains when he booted it again round the corner and smashed it up big-style that time!
He's now sold it and drives an A4 Avant TDi

I've had an S2000 from the car club for the last week, goes back on Friday great car, best vtec going, really suits the car. ok it's not been icy, but I think the handling is great, and the six second roof's even better . I'll be sorry to see it go.
Re the Audi, I'm not too bothered about waiting 30 days, if I can, for a potential 300/500 quid over a year. Plus I've got other things to keep me entertained till then, e.g. NSX, EVO 6 etc. etc. My points run out in February and I don't think I'll renew, so gotta use them up!
