I payed £10500 for a 6 Month old Octavia 4x4 with 1400 miles on it 6 months ago
£3500 covered new wheels, AP racing Brakes, KW suspension & a Jabba remap to 226 bhp.
Car still has 2 years warranty left, 2 years AA cover etc.
So far its been 100% reliable & came 19th on the Cannonball beating a lot of very exotic machinery. We thrashed the **** off it, 3000 miles in 5 days & apart from a couple of bent alloys (driver induced!) absolutely nothing broke, we didnt even get any rattles developing.
Also the Seat on the cannonball completed the event without any problems
So Skoda, Seat whatever you choose its fun, reliable & economic motoring & they dont seem to blow up like Scoobs. They are just Discounted Audis with arguably more character.
Incidentally with the 225 once you have 8-10,000 miles on it give Jabba a call & see what it can be mapped to, could be FUN !!!!

You'll enjoy it - they are a great car
Just put my June 03 R up in the For Sale section to make room for the next project - just ordered a Golf R32

A LOT more car for your money than many of the others mentioned.
Bearing in mind that the car I cite cost £21,000 new, this would mean that the residual value is approx 45% which is completely average and not over-priced.
Perhaps you should do your sums and re-assess what you think is "a good deal" and what is "worth it"
