Anyone got a diesel xTrail SVE?
#1
Hi,
I think I've got a buyer for my car so I am considering a new diesel xTrail SVE or spend a bit less and get a Forester (previous shape) turbo.
Any views? It will be used to do a lot of 1000 mile roundtrips to Scotland with two HUGE Bullmastiffs in the back hence time to part with my M5...
MPG on both for long trips?
Reliability?
Servicing costs?
Cheers

Xtrail diesel
-------------
Had a good look into this for the girlfriend's co.car opt out.
Mpg is going to be low to mid 30's, Autocar tested 0-60 in 11 ish
I like it and its being tweaked as we speak (centre console etc)
Forester Turbo
--------------
Lower powered classic Impreza with a more useful shape boot.
Similar servicing costs, 25-30mpg
OR
Skoda Octavia 4x4 1.8 Turbo estate
----------------------------------
- Audi engine and 4WD system. Detuned ECU.
- Much more room in the boot than my Impreza Wagon or A4 Avant
- Very similar to the Forester Turbo to drive
- A £425 remap at Jabbasport has increased my power to 220bhp
- Average MPG over 10000m since remap - 30mpg (Worst 23, best 38)
Seriously, it really is worth a look. Mine has climate, cruise control, ESP, traction control, 4WD, Electric roof etc etc. I bought a 12 month old one with 19k on it for £11000.
Servicing ? You can run it on long life oil (identical to Audi) or like me , take it in every 10k. My 30k service - guess?! £59.
Makes a change from Subaru prices.
If you need more info let me know. I kid you not, its cracking value for money and a better buy than the new Audi A4 Avant quattro I once owned.

Looks like a wait if I want a diesel SVE. I'm after a black one. Just been told by our local Nissan dealers there are 2 approved used SVE black ones in the country but both of them are petrol.
Apparently there is a face lift coming out in January and the diesel will have 8 more bhp so I might as well wait for that.
Cheers,
CB
